Features

Everything from the first booking to the last drop-off

Door Ferry covers both sides of a collection and delivery business: the booking site your customers use, and the calendar, run sheet and work queue your team uses.

Your booking site

Customers book on a site with your name on it, not ours.

  • Your name and domain

Your logo, colours and words, on your own web address.

  • Area pages

A page for each area you cover, so local searches find you.

  • Built for search

Fast pages, a sitemap and the business details search engines look for.

Booking and repeats

Made for booking on a phone, in the evening, in a few taps.

  • Postcode checker

Cover areas by postcode district, sector or full postcode. Out-of-area visitors can ask to be told when you get there.

  • Collection and return slots

Customers pick a service and turnaround, then a collection slot and a return slot. Returns start after the turnaround, in working days.

  • Weekly or fortnightly

A repeat collection books the same slot every week or two, for as long as the customer wants.

  • Skip from the email

Two days before each collection the customer gets a reminder with a “Skip this one” button. No login needed.

  • Preferences remembered

Each customer’s preferences are saved and copied onto every booking, where they can change them for that one.

  • Change until the cut-off

Customers can move or cancel a booking themselves until your cut-off the evening before.

Your calendar

Set your week once. Door Ferry keeps it full without going over.

  • Slots and limits

A weekly pattern of two-hour slots, each with a maximum number of stops, and each serving the areas you choose.

  • Cut-off and horizon

Tomorrow closes at the time you set, and customers book as far ahead as you allow.

  • Bank holidays and closures

Bank holidays in England and Wales close by themselves. Block a day or a slot and see who it affects: they are emailed the next free slots.

Running the day

Everyone knows what is happening tomorrow before they go home tonight.

  • Run sheet

Collections and returns by slot, then postcode, with access notes and how to get in touch. On a phone or printed on A4.

  • One tap at the door

Drivers mark each stop Collected or Delivered as they go.

  • Work queue

What’s due today, tomorrow and later, express jobs first, with each customer’s preferences and notes.

  • Dashboard

Tomorrow’s collections and returns, bookings that need a new slot, new sign-ups and demand by postcode.

Customers and your team

Online customers and phone customers in one place.

  • Customer accounts

Addresses, access instructions and how to contact them on the day.

  • Phone-only customers

Add customers who don’t use email and book for them. They still appear on the run sheet.

  • Every email handled

Confirmations with a calendar file, changes, reminders and password resets, sent in your name.

  • Roles and privacy

Separate access for admins, drivers and your team, a record of every change, and account deletion for UK GDPR.

Who uses it

The right screens for each person

Everyone signs in with their email address and sees what their part of the job needs.

  • Customers

Book, change, skip and cancel their own collections, and keep their preferences up to date.

  • Admins

Set slots, areas, services and prices, manage customers and staff, and book on a customer’s behalf.

  • Drivers

See the run sheet and mark each stop Collected or Delivered. Nothing to edit, nothing to break.

  • Your team

See the work queue: what’s due first and how each customer likes things done.

Good to know

What Door Ferry doesn’t do

So you can decide if it fits before we talk.

  • Online payment

Customers see your prices when they book and pay you as they do now. Door Ferry takes no card payments and sends no invoices.

  • Text messages and live tracking

Customers hear from you by email. There are no texts and no van on a map.

  • Automatic route planning

The run sheet is sorted by slot and postcode. Door Ferry doesn’t plan the route for the driver.

  • Sign up and go

Door Ferry is set up for each business, with your areas, slots and prices. We do that with you.
